The
Lola's radiators have been mounted in their standard location (where they will
remain). Now we're in the process of forming new coolant piping to connect the
Porsche motor to the radiators. The exhaust headers are also being attached in
this photo. Then we'll begin fabricating the exhaust piping, which will have to
get routed to the single turbo. Remember that in turbocharged motors, both the
induction and exhaust get routed through separate halves of the turbo unit itself,
which means you'll see induction and exhaust work going on almost simultaneously.
The
induction air will also be routed through an intercooler, which will be located
in between the turbocharger and the induction plenums we showed being made last
time (and which can be seen, temporarily in place atop the induction risers in
the photo above). If you go back to the update where we showed photos of the cooling
fan arrangement on the 935 motors, you'll notice in that application the intercooler
and intake plenum are all parts of a single unit, sitting directly on top of the
intake risers for each bank of cylinders.
More
coolant piping being fabricated on this side, where Rene is also fabricating the
mounting brackets where the throttle cable attaches to the motor's throttle linkage.
The
completed mounting, with throttle cable in place.
Rene
checks the overall thottle cable length, and the fixture where it attaches to
the car's gas pedal. <<<
